The One Word That Sums Up Self-Love
.
That one word is acceptance!
Acceptance of your strengths, and especially your weaknesses.
And the reason why you love your weaknesses is that they are a part of what makes you whole.
If you don’t, how can you say you love yourself, accept yourself, unconditionally, versus acknowledge only the good parts? That is like saying you only love your partner when they show their good side, versus are understanding they are human and have both good and bad days. Now, when you have acceptance of the whole, you are less bothered by what others think.
For example, if you are a man who secretly has a weakness around speaking to women and people joke with you about why you won’t speak to a woman, it is because of your lack of acceptance. They will amplify that lack of thinking, which in turn becomes louder in your judgment and guilt of yourself.
However, if you are ok with it, it won’t bother you as much, and it gives you the courage to want support around it.
When you have acceptance around your weaknesses, you have the courage to ask for support to make it something stronger. Because you can’t make strong what you keep in the darkness. And can’t have total acceptance and self-love without loving the whole of who you are.
