WhatsApp To block Millions Of Phones From November

Popular messaging application WhatsApp will not function on millions of phones beginning November this year.

According to WhatsApp, the application is due for an upgrade that will not be compatible with certain phones and will affect both iPhone and Android users who will not have updated their operating systems by the set date.

“WhatsApp will no longer support Android phones running OS 4.0.4 and older on November 1, 2021,” reads a statement on the Whatsapp FAQ page.

For people who have iPhones, the WhatsApp FAQ page reads: “WhatsApp for iPhone requires iOS 10 or newer.”

In addition, there are Phones whose operating systems cannot be updated. These users are therefore advised to either buy new phones or save their chats to avoid losing them.

“Please switch to a supported device or save your chat history before then,” adds WhatsApp.

A full list of the phones that will not be able to update their operating systems and thus will be affected is available on the WhatsApp FAQ page.
